Students may be able to get financial help with some of the costs of attending college.

A bursary application can be made once a student has applied for a course or is enrolled and has a valid student number.

Student support, wellbeing and safeguarding

Students do not have to deal with problems alone. Support is available if something is affecting wellbeing, safety, attendance or the ability to study.

Support is available for issues including:

Mental health and wellbeing
Safeguarding concerns
Bullying or harassment
Personal or family difficulties
Problems affecting attendance or studies
Care-experienced students and care leavers

Students can speak to their tutor, Learning Development Coach, Reception or a member of the safeguarding and wellbeing team.

If a student is worried about their own safety or the safety of another person, they should speak to a member of staff as soon as possible.

Emergency while at college

If there is an emergency while at college and a member of staff cannot be located, call:

079 8518 7960

If someone is in immediate danger or requires emergency police, ambulance or fire assistance, call 999.

Attendance, absence and lateness

Good attendance is an important part of succeeding at college.

If a student cannot attend college, they should let the college know as soon as possible.

Report an absence

Call the college switchboard on 020 7501 5000 and select the option to report an absence.

Students should give their:

Name
Student number
Course details
Reason for absence

Students should also contact their teacher through Microsoft Teams where possible.

If attendance is being affected by a longer-term problem, speak to a tutor or Learning Development Coach so that appropriate support can be considered.

IT help, passwords and online systems

Students use a range of digital systems while at college, including Microsoft 365, Outlook, Teams, Moodle and ProPortal.

Help is available with:

College usernames and passwords
Logging into college computers
Microsoft 365 and Teams
College Wi-Fi
Moodle and ProPortal
Printing and other college IT

If a student cannot log into a college computer or needs technical help, they should speak to staff in their campus Learning Resource Centre or Digital Spine. Staff can resolve common problems or direct students to IT Support.

Timetables and course questions

Students with questions about their timetable, classroom, course or lessons should normally speak to their teacher or Learning Development Coach first.

Timetable and attendance information can also be viewed through ProPortal.

If a student has not received their timetable or believes something is wrong, they can also visit Reception for help.

Additional Learning Support

Additional Learning Support (ALS) is available for students with learning difficulties, disabilities, medical conditions or other needs that may affect learning.

Support may be available for students with:

Specific learning difficulties
Hearing, visual, sensory or mobility difficulties
Autism
Physical disabilities or medical conditions
Mental health difficulties
ADHD
Mild, moderate or severe learning difficulties
Exam access requirements

Students can speak to their teacher, who can refer them to the ALS team, or contact the team directly.

Student ID cards, facilities and college life

Students should carry their college ID card while on campus.

If an ID card is lost, damaged or stops working, visit Reception for help.

Students do not need to know which college department deals with their problem.

Speak to a teacher, Learning Development Coach, Reception or another member of staff and explain what is happening. They can help identify the right person or team.
