BKSB Assessment
The BKSB assessment helps us understand your current level of English and maths skills. We use the results to plan the next steps in your education journey, so it’s important that you complete the assessment without any help from friends or family.
Remember, the BKSB assessment is not a test — there’s no pass or fail — so please don't worry. However, it’s important to find a quiet time and place so you can give it your full attention. If you’d like to prepare, we recommend visiting www.bbc.co.uk/skillswise to practise any areas you feel less confident about.
You should have received a link to the assessment by email before your interview. Please make sure you complete the assessment at least 2 days before your interview date.
All applicants aged 19 and over who cannot provide evidence of English and maths qualifications will be asked to complete the BKSB initial assessment as part of their application.
For full instructions on accessing and completing your BKSB assessment, please read our BKSB Guide.
Important: If you are applying for a specific English or maths course, you will be asked to complete a different assessment. Our English and maths team will provide further details.
