What do you need to apply?
The Level 1 Certificate in Beauty Therapy is a full-time VTCT-accredited qualification that takes approximately 9 months to complete; and has been developed in collaboration with industry specialists and established salon professionals. It's designed to introduce you to the basic skills and knowledge that underpin all beauty therapy careers, and be the first step on your path to future career success.
This course will help you develop your skills in a range of areas, and prepare you for progression into Level 2 beauty and beyond. You'll learn skills in basic manicure and pedicure techniques; skincare treatments, basic make-up application, nail art, and much more.
But more than just teaching you beauty skills and techniques, you'll also get chance to develop your skills in client care, health and safety procedures, and learn what life working in a salon is really like. By the end of the course, you'll be able to perform your own basic therapy services, and assist others in the salon.
This course is perfectly suited to learners who are looking to take their first steps towards a career in beauty therapy, looking to retrain and undertake a new career direction, or wanting to begin their educational journey in beauty, and advance to further qualifications.

How will you be assessed?
You will be continually assessed in a variety of ways including practical tasks, observations, assignments, presentations, and portfolio work. You will be assessed in both salon and classroom environments.

Where can this course take you?
On successful completion of the Level 1 Certificate in Beauty Therapy, you will receive a recognised certificate that can be a starting point for career progression in a variety of beauty industry roles. You may even be able to seek employment in a salon junior/trainee role.
You could also choose to further develop your knowledge and skills by advancing to higher-level beauty qualifications with South Bank Colleges.
