This is a significant step in the journey for those ready to take their education to the next level, whether they are recent school leavers, adults looking to further their qualifications, or aspiring apprentices.
How to Get Started
The enrolment process at South Bank Colleges is designed to be straightforward and accessible. If you’ve already applied online for a course, your next step is to complete your enrolment. Simply visit the college on your designated enrolment day, where the admissions team will guide you through each stage of the process.
For those who haven’t yet applied, it’s not too late. Use the navigation bar above to browse the wide range of courses, from Accounting and Plumbing to Sports, and click ‘Apply’ on your chosen course page. If you prefer to speak to someone in person, staff are on hand to assist at the college campuses.

Enrolment at Lambeth College's Clapham Campus and London South Bank Technical College's Nine Elms Campus will be open on the following timetable.
Please note: On days where a final walk-in time is shown, students arriving without an appointment must arrive by that time. The campus will remain open beyond the final walk-in time to complete enrolments already in progress and attend scheduled appointments.

What to Expect During Enrolment
The enrolment process is designed to make sure students are ready to start their course. Upon arrival, you’ll go through several key stages, including:
- Check-In: Confirm your attendance and receive initial guidance.
- Interviews and Assessments: Depending on your course, you may have an interview or need to complete assessments.
- Final Enrolment: This includes confirming your course choices, making any necessary payments and receiving your student ID.
Enrolment can be a busy time and wait times may sometimes be lengthy. Students may wish to bring water or refreshments to keep comfortable while waiting.

- London South Bank Technical College (Nine Elms Campus): For courses including Apprenticeships, Brick Work, Civil Engineering, Computing and IT, Construction, Dental, Electrical Installation, Engineering, English & Maths, E-Sports, Film and TV, Forensics, Games Design, Graphic Design, Green Skills, Health & Social Care, Nursing, Painting & Decorating, Photography, Plumbing, Science.
- Lambeth College (Brixton Campus): For Adult ESOL and IELTS.
What to Bring
To complete your enrolment, you’ll need to bring specific documents, including:
- Proof of identity and status in the UK, such as a passport, ID card or Home Office letter.
- Certificates of previous qualifications.
- Additional documentation if you’re an adult student or have specific financial needs, such as payslips or benefits letters.

1. Apply for Your Course
Enrolment is the final step in becoming a South Bank Colleges student after you have applied for a course.
- Go to the course page on the website and click Apply.
- After applying, you will receive an email explaining what happens next.
- If you would rather speak to someone face-to-face, you can visit one of the college campuses.

Everyone needs to enrol, whether studying full-time, part-time or as an apprentice.
2. Check Your Email
After you apply, keep an eye on your email inbox for information from the college.
Your email may include:
- The date and time of your interview.
- Your enrolment appointment.
- Details of any assessments you need to complete.
It is worth checking your junk or spam folder too, just in case an important message lands there.
3. What Happens When You Come to Enrol?
When you arrive at college, the team will guide you through the enrolment process. You can also read these top enrolment tips before you visit.
Stage 1: Welcome Desk
Go to reception and let the team know that you have arrived for enrolment.
Stage 2: Assessments and Interview
Depending on your course and circumstances, this may include:
- An initial English and maths assessment.
- An interview with the course team.
- An Additional Learning Support (ALS) consultation if you need one.
- A review of your EHCP, if applicable.
- A BKSB online English and maths skills assessment, if applicable.
Stage 3: Enrolment and Student ID
At the final stage you may need to:
- Pay any course fees or confirm how your course will be funded.
- Show valid identification.
- Complete your enrolment.
- Receive your student ID and timetable.
4. Which Campus Should You Visit?
It is important to go to the correct campus for your course so that the right teaching team can meet you.

5. What Do You Need to Bring?
Bringing the right documents will help make your enrolment quicker and easier.
Proof of your identity and your status in the UK
Please bring one of the following:
- Passport.
- Birth certificate.
- Residency permit, e-Visa or ID card.
- Home Office letter.
- Local authority letter if you are an asylum seeker or refugee.
Proof of your qualifications
- Any relevant school, college or university certificates.
- Any relevant portfolio work.
If you are an adult student aged 19+
You may also need to bring payslips, sponsor letters or evidence of benefits.
If you have an EHCP
If you are aged 19–24 and have an Education Health Care Plan (EHCP), please bring it with you.
6. What If You Didn't Get the Grades You Expected?
Do not assume that missing a grade means the end of your college plans.
The college looks at all the information available, not simply your exam results. The team will talk through your options and help you find a course that matches your goals and gives you a good route forward.
English and Maths for 16–19 Year Olds
If you are aged 16 to 19 and did not achieve Grade 4 or higher in GCSE English and/or maths:
- Bring your GCSE certificates with you to enrolment.
- You will continue studying the relevant subject or subjects alongside your main course.
- English and/or maths will be added to your college timetable.
7. Need Extra Support or Advice?
British Sign Language Support
British Sign Language (BSL) interpreters can be provided during enrolment. Please contact the admissions team before your enrolment date so that support can be arranged.

8. Course Fees and Financial Help
If you live in Greater London and earn less than £28,860 a year before tax, you may be able to study for free, depending on the course.
If this applies to you, bring recent payslips or other proof of income when you enrol.
If your course is Level 3 or higher and you do not qualify for free study, you may be able to apply for an Advanced Learner Loan from the Student Loans Company.
The enrolment team will explain the options available to you.
Confirming Your Course Fee
An enrolment officer will confirm the cost of your course after checking your documents.
If you do not qualify for free study, you will need to pay at enrolment or arrange an instalment plan if your fee is more than £500.
