In today's Our Journal, South Bank Colleges is excited to focus on its action-packed Sports Enrichment programme designed to help SBC students stay active, meet new people, and build valuable skills — all while having fun!

Whether current students are looking to pick up a new hobby, develop fitness and sports skills, or simply unwind and make new friends, the Sports Enrichment timetable offers something for everyone. Sessions are open to all abilities, and best of all, participation is always free for SBC's enrolled students! 

This programme is run out of the Clapham Common campus by SBC's lovely sports science team - so you're receiving the best from top professionals in the field. SBC students from both the Brixton and Nine Elms campus can also make the quick bus ride across to Clapham to participate (or it's a twenty minute walk if you're feeling brisk).

Here’s what’s on offer each week:

Monday:

  • Indoor Roller Skating (New!) – 3pm to 4pm, Sports Hall.
    Students can roll into the week with a freestyle skate session designed to build confidence and skating skills.

  • Indoor Football – 4pm to 6pm, Sports Hall.
    A lively session for any SBC student wanting to improve fitness and footie skills. All abilities are welcome!

Tuesday:

  • Badminton – 12pm to 1:15pm, Sports Hall.
    A fantastic way to stay fit, sharpen reflexes, and meet new friends.

  • Men’s Basketball – 4pm to 6pm, Sports Hall.
    Focused on skill development and game preparation for those keen to raise their basketball game.

Wednesday:

  • Dance – 12:15pm to 1:15pm, Dance Studio S114.
    A creative outlet for current students to express themselves and learn new moves.

  • Outdoor Football – 2pm to 4pm, Clapham Common.
    Take football outside! Perfect for honing skills and preparing for matches in a fresh air setting.

Thursday:

  • Game On Social (New!) – 12pm to 2pm, Sports Hall.
    A relaxed and friendly session where SBC students can enjoy a range of social games and meet new people.

  • Women’s Basketball – 4pm to 6pm, Sports Hall.
    Designed to develop skills and prepare the college's students for competitive games.

Friday:

  • Table Tennis – 12pm to 1:15pm, Sports Hall.
    Perfect for improving reflexes and networking in a fun, relaxed environment. Open to current students at all skill levels!

  • Open Basketball – 4pm to 6pm, Sports Hall.
    A great end to the week for SBC students with skill development sessions and open games for all players.
