Students from our Travel and Tourism course recently set sail on an educational trip to the National Maritime Museum in Greenwich, where they discovered more than they expected.

One of the students, Monnay, shared how the visit challenged her assumptions about maritime history.

"It was actually a lot more interesting than I expected. I didn't realise how much history was connected to the seas and the people who lived back then,"

One story in particular left a lasting impression.

"I learned about someone on the Titanic who had a whistle. They blew the whistle to get attention, and that was how some people were saved. It made me think about the lives and the people on the boat, because when I was younger, I was told that everyone died."

Looking back on the trip, she said it had changed her perspective.

"My overall experience was actually good. It opened my eyes to things I've never thought about before."
