This week we proudly marked Children's Mental Health Awareness Week with a day centred on comfort connection and confidence. It was a wonderful opportunity to remind our children and team that emotional wellbeing is just as important as physical health.

A Warm and Nourishing Start
The day began with a healthy hot breakfast for the children, creating a calm and welcoming atmosphere from the moment they arrived. Sharing a warm meal together encouraged conversation routine and a sense of belonging.
Staff and our special guest were treated to freshly made healthy juices, reinforcing the importance of modelling positive wellbeing choices. Small gestures like these help to build a culture where looking after ourselves and one another feels natural and valued.
Pyjama Day and Comfort Items
Children came to nursery in their pyjamas and brought along their favourite cuddly toy for a special Pyjama Day. Creating a relaxed environment allowed children to feel safe comfortable and ready to engage.
Familiar clothing and treasured toys can be incredibly reassuring, particularly for younger children. The simple act of bringing something from home helped to strengthen the bridge between home and nursery, supporting emotional security.
Affirmations Mindfulness and Movement
Following breakfast, the children took part in a group affirmations session. Speaking positive words aloud helped them to recognise their strengths and build confidence. It was heartwarming to see children proudly repeat phrases that celebrated kindness bravery and uniqueness.
The morning continued with a mindfulness session and gentle yoga. These activities encouraged children to slow down focus on their breathing and become more aware of their feelings and bodies. Learning these techniques at an early age supports emotional regulation resilience and overall wellbeing.
Celebrating Positive Minds
To close the day, both staff and children were presented with certificates of affirmations. This meaningful gesture recognised everyone’s participation and reinforced the message that every individual matters.
Child Mental Health Awareness Week reminds us that nurturing young minds requires intention compassion and consistency. By combining nourishment comfort movement and positive language, we created a day that truly celebrated wellbeing from the inside out.
We are proud to continue building an environment where every child feels heard supported and confident to be themselves.
