For Alexander, a Creative Media, Film and TV student at London South Bank Technical College (LSBTC), creativity isn’t just a subject — it’s a passion that drives everything he does. After three years studying the Level 3 Diploma in Creative Media Production and Technology (UAL), he’s now ready to take the next step, progressing to London South Bank University to continue his studies in media.
“I’ve always loved creating media — from animations and graphics to short films,” said Alexander. “The course gave me the opportunity to develop my technical skills and express my creativity in so many ways.”

Alexander’s enthusiasm for media production extends beyond the classroom. He runs his own YouTube channel, where he uploads short creative projects such as mock TV idents — those 30-second clips that introduce programmes on major channels. “It’s a fun way to show potential employers what I can do,” he explained.
Throughout his course, Alexander developed advanced technical skills in Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects, and DaVinci Resolve, as well as gaining valuable experience in animation using Adobe Character Animator. These skills, combined with the strong foundation of media theory, production practice, and research he learned at LSBTC, have helped prepare him for the next stage of his education.
“The lecturers have been really supportive,” he said. “They’ve encouraged me to aim for my goals and guided me through the process of applying to university. The learning support team has also been fantastic.”
The Level 3 Diploma in Creative Media Production and Technology (UAL) is an advanced, two-year course — equivalent to three A levels — designed to prepare students for higher education or entry into the creative industries. Students gain experience in all stages of media production, from pre- and post-production to audio, visual and interactive media. The course also builds theoretical understanding, helping learners explore professional standards, research methodologies, and the wider media landscape.
For Alexander, that balance of creativity, technology and real-world experience has made all the difference. “The facilities here are great, and the course has such a broad scope,” he said. “It’s given me the confidence and skills to move forward to London South Bank University — and I can’t wait to see what comes next.”
